Mission and Objective
The mission of Gutpedia is to collect and disseminate the knowledge, science and experience of gastroenterology, nutrition and hepatology. We welcome practitioners from other fields of medicine concerned with diagnosing and treating diseases of the digestive system.
The basic premise of the Gutpedia project is that by providing a platform for sharing information and discussing cases, we can advance our field by organizing the vast universe of knowledge acquired by gestroenterologists and hepatologists practicing in different parts of the world.
Gutpedia is also designed to serve as an on line community for practicing physicians, medical students and trainees. Gutpedia Textbook is a wiki, a free user-editable encyclopedia of gastroenterology, nutrition and hepatology, open to the entire community of hepatologists, gestroenterologists and general pathologists interested in digestive organs diseases. This unique medium allows association of cases with textbook entities, offering previously unachievable depth of illustration of disease entities. Other types of electronic publishing may be adopted in the future as Gutpedia functionality is further developed.
Gutpedia allows the users to share interesting cases. Gutpedia provides a platform for Institutions and professional organizations to run clinicopathological conferences, grand rounds, courses and seminars. It allows worldwide audience to learn and pariticipate in these events.
Users of Gutpedia are encouraged to collaborate on research projects. The website provides a forum for collecting series of cases and sharing insights.

User profile includes user’s account name, full name and professional title, institutional affiliation, an email address and a password. The password is kept in encrypted format in the Gutpedia database. Additional information you provde may help you to network with people sharing your interests.
Will you ever use my personal information for anything else?
Never. The account information is only used to link the authors of the contributions to Gutpedia and to help other users to assess the author’s professional credentials. Gutpedia account data is never made public, sold or shared with any third party or not used for marketing purposes, except in the instance where a user may opt in to receive additional information. Account data may be utilized by Gutpedia staff for statistical purposes to verify that the site is working properly, etc.
